No. 9 Women’s Tennis Head to ITA National Indoor Championship

Tallahassee, Fla. – The No. 9 Florida State women’s tennis team (5-0) heads to Chicago for the 16-team ITA National Team Indoor Championship this weekend (Feb. 7-10) at the XS Tennis Village. The Seminoles will square off against No. 7 Texas for the first time in program history in the opening round on Friday (Feb. 7) at 6:30 p.m. CST.

The Garnet and Gold will face either No. 4 UCLA or Illinois on Saturday (Feb. 8) for their second match of the weekend.  The Noles are guaranteed three matches and will play a fourth if they advance to the championship match.

This is only the second time Florida State has advanced to the national event with the first being in 2010.  The Noles went 1-2 in 2010 losing the first two matches to No. 5 Baylor (5-2), No. 10 Georgia (6-1) and beat No. 13 Tennessee (4-3).

Joining the Seminoles at the National Indoor Championship are No. 1 Stanford, No. 2 North Carolina, No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 UCLA, No. 5 Duke, No. 6 Pepperdine, No. 7 Texas, No. 8 NC State, No. 10 Michigan, No. 11 Virginia, No. 12 Ohio State, No. 14 Arizona State, No. 17 Princeton, No. 22 Georgia Tech and Illinois.

Noles in the Polls
In the latest Oracle/ITA poll, Florida State comes in at No. 9, which is the highest ranking in program history. Their highest ranking before this was No. 10 on April 13. 2019.

The Seminoles have one ranked singles player in senior Nandini Das, who was ranked No. 86 in the latest Oracle/ITA poll. Along with two ranked doubles pairs in No. 15 junior Petra Hule and freshman Victoria Allen, and No. 16 ranked junior Emmanuelle Salas and Allen.
