BRADENTON, Fla. – The Florida State men’s tennis team had a good second day of the Dick Vitale Collegiate Clay Court Invitational as they advanced to the finals in two of the three brackets.
The Seminole Duo of Sophomore Chase Wood and freshman Richard Thongoana won their second and third matches as a pair this fall as they advanced to the doubles finals. In the quarterfinal, they took down Andrew Ton and Greg Durham of Navy 9-7 to set up a match against in-state rival Florida. Wood and Thongoana took down Lukas Greif and Brian Berdusco 8-4 to move on to the finals.
As the lone Seminole remaining in the singles draw junior Enzo Le Seguillon won two more matches today. After losing his first match of the weekend Le Seguillon has now won three in a row to reach the consolation singles final. In the quarterfinal, he took down Javier Fernandez (FGCU) 6-0, 6-2. In the semifinal, Enzo fought through a tough first set taking it in a tiebreaker. In the second set, Le Seguillon took down his second straight opponent from FGCU, Ezequiel Cerrini, 6-4. He will take on Emilie Hudd of Oklahoma State tomorrow in the final.
The men’s singles final will be not before 11:30 with the doubles finals TBA.
A portion of all the proceeds will benefit the V Foundation, a foundation that focuses on raising money for Cancer research and admission is free
