TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State cross country runners Adriaan Wildschutt and Lauren Ryan were recognized as the ACC Performers of the Week following their victories at the Covered Bridge Open, in Boone, N.C., on Friday.
“What a great way to start the cross country season,” FSU head coach Bob Braman said. “This is a wonderful honor for both Lauren and Adriaan.”
Wildschutt takes home his third-straight ACC Performer of the Week honor, after he posted a time of 24:48.53 in the men’s 8K for the win. His time was nearly 20 second ahead of the next competitor.
Wildschutt was also recognized for the award following the FSU XC Winter Invite and FSU Last Chance Meet in February and March earlier this year.
The Ceres, South Africa, native, paced the Noles to victory behind a total of 36 points.
Ryan was named the ACC Women’s Co-Performer of the Week along with Sasha Neglia from North Carolina.
Competing in her first meet since the 2019 NCAA Championships, Ryan crossed the finish line with a time of 17:05.35 in the 5K for first place.
The Brighton, Australia, native paced the 18th-ranked women’s team to the team title with a tally of 26 points.
This the second ACC weekly honor of her career. She won her first following the 2019 Covered Bridge Open, where she placed second.
The Seminoles will host the FSU Open early in the morning on Sept. 17 at the Apalachee Regional Park. For more information on Florida State cross country, follow Twitter @FSU_Track and Instagram @FSU_Track.
