Bobby Seymour and DJ Poteet scored off walks to Bruce Steel and Jake Mueller sandwiched around Shane Muntz’s run off a passed ball. The 10th-seeded Demon Deacons (31-25) left 14 runners on base overall, but sent nine batters to the plate against six FSU pitchers in the seventh.

Jonah Scolaro (3-2) took the loss.

Carter Bach (1-0) got the final out in the sixth to earn the victory for Wake Forest. Mueller, Seymour, Chris Lanzilli and Logan Harvey each had two hits as the Deacons finished with 11.

Drew Parrish allowed one earned run in 5.2 innings, striking out 13 hitters.  In four career appearances in the ACC Tournament,  Parrish has 35 strikeouts, including a career-high 14 in 2018 against NC State and 13 against Wake Forest.

J.C. Flowers hit a two-run triple and Nander De Sedas followed with a two-run homer in FSU’s four-run fourth that tied the game. The Seminoles (35-21) managed just six hits.

OF NOTE:

  • The Demon Deacons and Seminoles have now played to a 2-2 spilt in 2019 with Wake Forest’s win on Tuesday following the April 27-28 regular season series in Tallahassee in which Florida State took two of three.
  • The 13 strikeouts Florida State starting pitcher Drew Parrish registered before departing with two outs in the sixth inning were one shy of his career high … Parrish hit that mark in last season’s ACC Championship when he struck out 14 in a win over NC State … Parrish has 105 strikeouts this season after having 128 last year; he is the first Seminole with back-to-back 100 strikeout seasons since Sean Gilmartin in 2010-11
  • Wednesday’s game matched the last two programs to win back-to-back ACC Baseball Championships … Florida State entered as two-time defending champion (2017, 2018) and Wake Forest (1998, 1999) is the next most-recent program to win the tournament consecutive years.
  • J.C. Flowers’ triple in the fourth inning was FSU’s 13th of the season. Flowers extended his hitting streak to 6 games.
  • Nander De Sedas’s home run was his first since March 12 at Florida and he tied his season high with two hits.
