⚾️: Noles Face USF in Tampa

TAMPA – No. 6 Florida State (7-0) puts its perfect record on the line Tuesday at USF. The Seminoles have weekend sweeps against Maine and Youngstown State, while USF is coming off getting swept at North Carolina.

The Bulls (3-4) and Seminoles have split each of the past two season in Tallahassee. This is FSU’s first road game of the season after getting rained out twice last week at Jacksonville.

Fans can watch the game for free on BullsVision or listen to Eric Luallen on the radio in Tallahassee on 106.1 FM and nationwide on the FSU Gameday App.

Velez is 2-0 with a 1.12 earned run average in two appearances out of the bullpen. Tuesday will be the junior college transfer’s first start as a Seminole.

Florida State is 71-16 all-time against the Bulls and has won 16 of the past 17 in the series. The last time FSU visited Tampa to play USF, the Noles won 12-4.

Freshman Robby Martin was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week Monday. He is FSU’s first freshman to be named player of the week since DJ Stewart won the award twice in 2013.

Martin was 8-for-12 with three doubles, a home run and eight RBI in three games against Youngstown State. His six RBI in game two against the Penguins was the most for a Seminole since Drew Mendoza in 2017.

Martin leads the ACC in hits with 15 and RBI with 17.

Head coach Mike Martin became the winningest coach in NCAA history in FSU’s 3-2, 13-inning win at Clemson last season. Martin is just 6 wins shy of 2,000 for his career and is 1,994-713-4 overall in 40 seasons.

Martin announced in June that 2019 would be his final year coaching the Seminoles.
