TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In the first day of qualifying, the Seminoles fell at the ITA All-American Championships in singles. The tournament is being hosted at the University of Tulsa where more than 300 players are competing.
Starting early this morning was Jordan Kelly-Houston (Christchurch, New Zealand). The junior faced Alabama’s Jarryd Botha but lost in a close two-set match 6-4, 7-5. Tonight freshman Cristian Gonzalez Mendez (Santiago de Compostela, Spain) took on Yannick Hanfmann of USC, the No. 2 freshman in the nation. Gonzalez Mendez fell 6-1, 6-3.
Kelly-Houston and Gonzalez Mendez will compete in the second round of the doubles qualifying draw tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. after receiving a bye in the first round.
