Noles In The NFL: Wild Card Playoff Preview

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – With the NFL’s regular season over, 16 former Seminoles are among those vying for a trip to Super Bowl LIII. That includes a handful of veterans, as well as a few promising rookies. This weekend’s games will feature one Florida State standout in his 18th year in the NFL – Seattle kicker Sebastian Janikowski – as well as one in his first – Chargers safety Derwin James.

AFC: Kansas City (OL Cameron Erving, DT Derrick Nnadi, LB Terrance Smith), New England (TE Ryan Izzo), Houston (OL Roderick Johnson), Baltimore, Los Angeles Chargers (DB Derwin James), Indianapolis

NFC: New Orleans (DB P.J. Williams, DB Patrick Robinson), Los Angeles Rams (DB Lamarcus Joyner), Chicago (DT Eddie Goldman), Dallas, Seattle (K Sebastian Janikowski), Philadelphia (LB Nigel Bradham, DE Josh Sweat, DB Ronald Darby, DT Timmy Jernigan, TE Will Tye).

Here’s a look at the Wild Card round:

No. 6-seed Indianapolis at No. 3 Houston (Saturday, 4:35 p.m., ESPN)

Colts: None.

Texans: OL Roderick Johnson was promoted to the active roster last month. He made his lone appearance of the season in a loss against the Colts in Week 14.

No. 5-seed Seattle at No. 4 Dallas (Saturday, 8:15 p.m., FOX)

Seahawks: In his 18th year in the league, K Sebastian Janikowski made 81.5 percent of his field-goal attempts (22-25) with a long of 56 yards and was 48-51 on extra points.

Cowboys: None.

No. 5-seed Los Angeles Chargers at No. 4 Baltimore (Sunday, 1:05 p.m., CBS)

Chargers: DB Derwin James has made 105 tackles, 3.5 sacks and three interceptions. He was recently named one of four rookie starters for the upcoming Pro Bowl and earlier this week was chosen as Pro Football Focus’ Defensive Rookie of the Year. On Friday, the Associated Press named James a first-team All-Pro, the first Charger to earn the designation as a rookie.

No. 6-seed Philadelphia at No. 3 Chicago (Sunday, 4:40 p.m., FOX)

Eagles: LB Nigel Bradham has played in 15 of 16 games, tied for the team lead with 97 tackles and made two sacks. DE Josh Sweat (ankle) was placed on injured reserve on Dec. 11. He appeared in nine games this season and made one tackle. After missing most of the regular season with a back injury, DT Timmy Jernigan returned to the lineup in Week 12, then missed Weeks 13 and 14 before coming back for Philadelphia’s final two games of the regular season.  He has amassed two tackles in three games and should receive in an increased workload during the Eagles’ playoff run. CB Ronald Darby (knee) was placed on injured reserve in November. At the time of his injury, he had made 43 tackles and one interception, and had defended 12 passes.
