‘Noles Look To Can The Competition

The Seminoles women’s basketball team will partner with Meals on Wheels, ECHO Outreach and other organizations this November in an effort to raise canned goods for those in need. Fans will be able to pick up a “Can the Competition” coupon at participating Winn Dixie’s as well as other businesses around Tallahassee and are encouraged to bring a canned good with them to receive free admission. Last year over 750 cans were donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank for the Holiday season, which helped feed many families throughout the nation and right here in Tallahassee.

“We have traditionally held a canned food drive for one game, but this year we are placing an emphasis on community service and we thought of a fun and creative way to give back this Holiday season. We not only want to beat our opponents, but also the hunger problem around the country,” said Assistant Director of Marketing Drew Longenecker.

Members of the team will bring meals to those families in need in the Meals on Wheels campaign as well as donate the remaining canned goods to different organizations including ECHO Outreach.
