⚾: Noles Place Three on All-ACC Academic Team

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Sixth-year senior Chase Haney was named to the All-ACC Academic Team for the third time Thursday, while junior Logan Lacey and freshman Bryce Hubbart both earned their first academic honors from the league.

Haney was also named to the ACC’s Academic Team as a freshman in 2016 and a junior in 2019. He is a five-time honoree to the league’s academic honor roll after earning an undergraduate degree in commercial entrepreneurship and a master’s degree in sport management. On the field, Haney set the FSU record for career appearances by a pitcher with 138 and finished his Seminole career with a 16-5 record and 3.45 earned run average.

Hubbart earned academic honor roll recognition from the ACC during the shortened 2020 season and is FSU’s first freshman pitcher since Haney to be named to the All-ACC Team. Hubbart finished the 2021 season 6-5 with a 3.80 ERA, making 16 appearances and 14 starts. He struck out 94 batters over 71.0 innings pitched and opponents hit just .208 against the left-hander. Hubbart earned third team All-ACC and All-Freshman honors from the league for his play on the field this season. He is majoring in sport management.

Lacey finished second on the team with a .295 average, 57 hits and 13 doubles. FSU’s third baseman, who also saw time in left and center field in 2021, hit a home run in his final four games of the season, including one in each of the three games of the Oxford Regional in his NCAA Tournament debut. The Tallahassee native is majoring in interdisciplinary social science.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
