Noles Set For Friday Doubleheader

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 26 Florida State men’s tennis team (14-6) is spending all afternoon at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center with a doubleheader on Friday, April 5. The Seminoles host No. 66 North Florida (10-6) at noon and then take on Boston College (5-8) at 5 p.m.

“We’re glad to be back home with two matches this Friday,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “We want to get back on track against a very difficult North Florida team. Boston College will be another strong ACC match; they were really competitive last year in Massachusetts so we look forward to playing them Friday night.”

UNF currently is on a eight match winning streak which started with a 5-2 victory over Miami. The Osprey’s have the No. 10 doubles team in the nation with Moritz Buerchner and Norbert Nemcsek. Florida State holds a 9-1 record over North Florida since the teams’ first match in 1985, which was the Osprey’s only win. The Seminoles won 7-0 last year.

The Seminoles hold a perfect 9-0 record against Boston College. They two teams faced each other for the first time in 1979. FSU won 6-1 last season.

After losing two matches last weekend, the Seminoles are looking forward to stopping the streak. This spring not one player has a losing record in singles or doubles play. The Seminoles also have a winning mark on eight of the possible nine positions in singles and doubles.

Sophomore Dominic Cotrone in ranked No. 121 in singles while senior Andres Bucaro and sophomore Benjamin Lock are at No. 45 in doubles play.
