TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 12-ranked Florida State men’s golf team competes in the Mason Rudolph Men’s Championship this weekend at the Vanderbilt Legends Club South Course. The 14-team field plays on the par-71, 7,100-yard course in Franklin, Tenn., with the Seminoles teeing off at 8:45 from hole one.
“We had a good practice round today,” said head coach Trey Jones. “The guys were professional and are looking forward to playing this course under some challenging conditions. This is the time of year where we expect to see the player’s improvement and development from the start of the year. We have some line-up positions for the postseason unclaimed and this is a great opportunity for some guys to make a step toward that.”
Playing their seventh different line-up of the year, the team will be playing five guys and one individual. Having not missed a tournament this year is freshman Jack Maguire, ranked No. 26 in the nation, who leads the team with the lowest stroke average of the spring (69.25). Having missed only one tournament this year are sophomores Hank Lebioda and Rowin Caron. No. 96 Lebioda has a 70.67 stroke average this spring while No. 82 Caron is at a steady 71.92.
Making his way into the line-up for the second straight tournament is Joaquin Lolas. The senior has had a strong spring playing three events for a 71.55 stroke average. Making it into the team line-up for the first time since the first tournament of the spring is freshman Josh Lee. Playing as an individual is Cristobal Del Solar who is making his seventh appearance of the year.
Joining Florida State this weekend is host school No. 14 Vanderbilt, No. 1 Alabama, No. 33 Mercer, No. 35 Kennesaw State, No. 48 Georgia Southern, Ball State, College of Charleston, ETSU, Louisville, Middle Tennessee State, Rice, Southern Mississippi and Western Kentucky.
