Florida State won 3-of-4 games against NC State, including back-to-back extra-inning, walk-off wins in Tallahassee in the regular season. In the ACC Tournament, Drew Parrish struck out 14 batters in a complete game as FSU topped the Wolfpack 5-2 en route to a second consecutive conference championship.

Head coach Mike Martin, the winningest coach in college baseball history, reached another milestone on March 9 with his 2,000th career win in FSU’s 5-2 victory over Virginia Tech. His career record of 2,000-715-4 and .736 winning percentage are the best among active coaches.

Last season, Martin passed the late Augie Garrido for the most wins in college baseball history. Florida State and Martin announced last June that 2019 would be the legendary coach’s 40th and final season leading the Noles.

Florida State opened Atlantic Coast Conference play with a series win against Virginia Tech March 8-9. FSU won the opener, 9-8 in 10 innings, on a J.C. Flowers walk-off three-run double. FSU trailed much of the game before Drew Mendoza tied it with a two-run double off the centerfield wall in the eighth inning. After the Hokies scored two in the top of the 10th, FSU worked a walk, hit by pitch and walk before Flowers’ two-out game-winner.

FSU also won the rubber match against the Hokies with a 5-2 victory Saturday afternoon. Mendoza broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning with an RBI single and Flowers recorded his second save and second home run of the season in the win, Martin’s 2,000th leading Florida State.

Florida State remained No. 1 in the Collegiate Baseball poll, and jumped one spot each in the Baseball America (5), D1Baseball (10) Perfect Game (12) and USA Today (6) polls.

Florida is ranked in the top 10 across the board and will be the Seminoles first ranked foe of 2019.
