One Tribe Unconquered
One Tribe Unconquered

We all know the old saying, “The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.” We also know that it is the nature of sports and competition that, as fans and supporters, we will experience both.

For those of us that bleed Garnet & Gold, even a midweek, regular season loss stings.

But even more lasting is the exhilaration we felt when Kelvin Benjamin snatched that game-winning pass out of the Rose Bowl sky for the National Championship against Auburn. Or when softball stormed to the National Championship in OKC at the Women’s College World Series just months ago.

2018 Softball National Champions

It is about the way you felt watching Dallas Dorosy’s sliding goal that sealed FSU’s second soccer National Championship, or seeing your Seminoles cutting the nets down after winning the ACC men’s basketball championship, or when Warrick Dunn took Charlie Ward’s pass all the way down Florida Field.

You may have been a Seminole fan back in the 1980s, when our women’s track and field team captured an outdoor National Championship in 1984 and the indoor title in 1985. More recently, it was our men’s track and field team taking home titles in 2006 and 2008.

You may even go all the way back to the 1950s, when we claimed our earliest national titles. We have them in gymnastics, volleyball, slowpitch softball and even cheerleading.

But being a Seminole and one of the Tribe also has sometimes meant tears, heartbreak and even frustration, because that’s what sports is.

Whether in victory or defeat, the Seminoles exhilarate Florida State’s fans, students, faculty, alumni and supporters around the globe. And when the final seconds tick off the clock, what unites us all is our unconditional love for our school, our teams, our student-athletes and our coaches.

This shared passion for Florida State athletics and a community of supporters who never waiver in their pride for FSU is what “One Tribe Unconquered” means. It means you can’t wait to brag about your school and teams and you defend their failures because a swipe at FSU feels like a swipe at you. Florida State is part of who we are. We all make up this unique community and we all stand as One Tribe Unconquered.
