TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Senior Ana Oparenovic earned ITA Southeast Region Senior Player of the year on Saturday morning as announced by the ITA.
Oparenovic made an immediate impact in her one and only season at Florida State after transferring in from Arkansas in the fall. She ended the fall with the most wins on the team with 10 creating excitement about the spring season.
She did just that in the spring coming away with 14 singles wins and 16 doubles wins, one ACC Player of the Week honor and Third Team All-ACC honors to go along with her Senior Player of the year achievement.
Her impact in the singles lineup spanned anywhere from court one to court four as she earned two ranked wins and went 8-5 in the ACC. She started the fall with a season-high ranking of No. 55.
In doubles, she was tied for second on the team in wins with 16, including 12 wins on court one. Her 14-8 record with Emmanuelle Salas, including five wins over ranked opponents, earned her and Salas a season-high doubles ranking of No. 21 to end the season and get them a spot in the NCAA Doubles competition.
Oparenovic, Salas and Carla Touly begin play in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship starting on Monday, May 20th.
