ATLANTA, Ga. – Senior transfer Ana Oparenovic earned the ITA Southeast Regional consolation bracket championship on Monday morning after a dominating performance in the championship match.
“Ana did a great job playing her best tennis as the weekend progressed,” said head coach Jennifer Hyde. “In every match, she got better, and she just keeps improving. She is in the process of learning so much about her game and learning that she is capable of even more great things than what she’s already produced. I’m so happy that she got to reap big rewards for the work and commitment she is showing. Plenty more to come for this Seminole.”
55th ranked Oparenovic took down Ana Melilio of North Florida 6-1, 6-4 to earn her first title as a Seminole.
After losing in the first round of the main draw on Friday Ana won four straight to earn her consolation bracket title. She did so without dropping a set in her final four matches.
Florida State will be back in action the week of Nov. 7 at the ITA Fall Championship (Nov. 7-11) and the FSU All-Conference Showdown (Nov. 9-11) in Tallahassee.
