Tallahassee, FL –
The Oregon Ducks continued their recent mastery of the ninth-ranked FSU softball team as they won their third straight game from FSU Friday at the 2003 Seminole Classic Tournament. Oregon handed sophomore Casey Hunter (3-1) her first loss of the season as the Pac-10 school used a two-run, seventh inning rally to take the game 3-1.

For the fourth time in five games, Florida State scored in the first inning and broke out to an early lead. Freshman Natasha Jacob led the bottom of the first off with an infield single and was sacrificed to second by Shundra Colzie. After Oregon starter Amy Harris (2-1) retired the next hitter, NFCA 1st Team All-American Brandi Stuart got her first extra base hit of the year. Her double over the right fielder’s head plated Jacob and gave Stuart her second RBI of the season.

Oregon evened the game in the fifth with a two-out rally, which was aided by an FSU throwing error. The Tribe looked to retake the lead in the fifth with another two out rally. Jessica van der Linden reached on a bad hop single and she was followed by Stuart who collected her second hit of the day and extended her hitting streak to five games. Harris fought back and ended the threat retiring the next batter.

Oregon loaded the bases with just one out in the top of the seventh as the Ducks looked to make a late rally against Hunter. Number nine hitter Breanna Sabol came up with the bases juiced and struck out looking giving Hunter her sixth K of the game and bringing up lead-off hitter Alyssa Laux who was 0-for-3 on the day. The senior hit a infield grounder that scored one run and then a bobbled pick up let a second runner come in as the Ducks headed to the bottom of the frame witrh a 3-1 lead.

Florida State was unable to get anything going in the bottom of the frame. Jessica van der Linden drew a two-out walk but Oregon closer Andrea Vidlund came in and ended the
threat while picking up her second save of the day.
