Pardon, Pellitteri Garner CCSA Preseason Accolades

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State Beach Volleyball team placed two student-athletes on the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Preseason All-Conference team as announced by the CCSA on Wednesday. Seniors Jace Pardon and Kristina Pellitteri were named to the preseason all-conference team, while Pardon was recognized as the league’s Preseason Player of the Year. Julie Brown was named the CCSA’s Preseason Watch List.

The preseason accolades were voted on by the league’s eight head coaches. Florida State joined the CCSA for beach volleyball only in October of 2015 as one of eight charter members including UAB, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Georgia State, LSU, South Carolina and Tulane.

“It’s great news that we have two of our players honored by the CCSA,” Florida State head coach Brooke Niles said. “It also shows that the coaches in this league have a huge amount of respect for our team and the players on our team.

“Jace earning conference player of the year accolades is well-deserved. She is one of the most decorated players in the conference and we are so lucky to have her back for another season. Jace has worked very hard during the offseason as she is healthy again and in great shape. She is playing the best volleyball that I have ever seen her play which is a huge bonus for us.”

Pardon is a two-time AVCA All-American selection and has been a member of the Seminole beach volleyball team since the program started in 2012. Her season was cut short in 2015 as she suffered a season ending injury during the second week of the season. The redshirt senior returns for her final year in 2016 as the program’s all-time wins leader with 119 career victories. Pardon helped the Seminoles advance to the AVCA National Championships her first three seasons at Florida State leading the Garnet & Gold to a pair of top three finishes in 2012 and 2013 and then a runner-up finish in 2014.

Pellitteri led the Seminoles in wins a season ago posting a 25-10 record as she paired with Victoria Paranagua all season long. The duo went 13-6 in dual match play and 4-3 against ranked teams. Pellitteri enters her senior campaign with 84 career wins good for sixth on the all-time list. The Deerfield Beach, Fla., native played at four different positions in 2015 going 5-2 at the No. 1 spot. Pellitteri has been instrumental in leading Florida State to three consecutive appearances at the AVCA National Championships including a runner-up finish in 2014.

Brown is a three-year starter for the Seminoles and has tallied 67 career victories including 46 dual match wins. Last season, Brown went 16-9 playing at four different positions. The Oviedo, Fla., native has helped the Seminoles advance to the AVCA National Championships three years in a row including a runner-up finish in 2014.

Pardon, Pellitteri, Brown and the rest of the Seminole beach volleyball team will open the 2016 season this weekend at the Seminole Beach Volleyball courts with the Garnet & Gold exhibition match on Friday, February 26 at 5 p.m. Admission to the event is free.
