Pickett Claims National Accolade

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State’s Carson Pickett grabbed a spot on TopDrawerSoccer’s Team of the Week after tallying a goal and an assist in pacing the Seminoles to a second consecutive ACC championship title.

Pickett assisted on FSU’s first goal of the game against Notre Dame in the semifinals. A great tackle down near the end line by Pickett kept the ball in possession of the Seminoles to begin the scoring play. She then found a wide open Megan Campbell, whose cross cleared the Irish defense right to the far post and to the head of Dagny Brynjarsdottir who found the back of the net for the goal in the 22nd minute.

In Sunday’s championship final, Pickett scored the only goal of the match as Florida State defeated Virginia 1-0 for its third conference title in four years. The Fleming Island, Fla., native put away a beautiful cross by Cheyna Williams with a header inside the left post from about six yards out in the 17th minute of action. The goal for Pickett was her first of the season and seventh of her career.

For efforts, Pickett was also named to ACC All-Tournament Team.

Pickett and the Seminoles are back in action Friday, November 14 at 7:00 pm when Florida State hosts South Alabama in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament.
