THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Play concluded at the 7th Annual Thomasville Collegiate Invitational after three days of play. Sunday concluded with the singles and doubles round with Florida State represented in each match. FSU was joined by South Alabama, Florida A&M, Valdosta State and West Florida at the Glen Arven Country Club.

Reaching the finals of singles and doubles was junior Anderson Reed (Daphne, Ala.). After winning both of his matches on Friday, he defeated the No. 1 seed Luis Loeffler of Valdosta State 1-6, 6-3, 10-8 on Saturday. On Sunday he faced another Blazer, this time Konstantin Kutschenko. Reed played strong but lost a close two set match, 6-4, 7-6(4). Reed would finish the tournament with a 5-2 record.

Earlier in the day, Reed teamed up with freshman Dominic Cotrone (Bradenton, Fla.) to play in the final doubles match. In order to get the finals match, the duo defeated the No. 1 seed of Blake Gregor and Daniel Leitner of South Alabama 8-2 on Saturday. The duo faced the open team of FAMU’s Temuera Asafu-Adjaye and FSU volunteer assistant coach Andy Gerst. Both duos entertained the crowd with a well-played, energetic match with ended with a tiebreaker. After battling back and forth, Asafu-Adjaye and Gerst took the tiebreaker to win the title 9-8 (2).

Cotrone played consolation singles earlier in the day where he defeated teammate Jason Zafiros, a senior from Bradenton, Fla. Cotrone won the first set 6-2 and was leading 4-0 before Zafiros retired. Cotrone finishes the weekend with a 5-2 record as well.

Junior Andres Bucaro (Guatemala City, Guatemala) finished the tournament strong winning his last three matches. On Sunday he defeated No. 4 seed Dauw Kruger of South Alabama 6-2, 6-1. On Saturday he beat the Jaguars’ Daniel Leitner 6-0, 6-2. In his final doubles match of the tournament, he and Zafiros won 8-5 over Kruger and Sebastian Kirmse of USA.
