TULSA, Okla. – Florida State men’s tennis redshirt senior Lucas Poullain’s run at the ITA All-American Championship comes to an end in the main draw round of 32.
In the first round, Poullain took down 30th ranked August Holmgren of San Diego in three sets. Poullain fell behind 3-0 early in the first set and was not able to fight back as he lost the first set 6-4. Poullain quickly bounced back going up 3-2 in the second set before breaking his opponent and winning 6-3. In the final set, Lucas jumped out to a 2-0 lead before expanding that to a 5-1 lead. He finished off Holmgren 6-2 in the third set to advance to the round of 32.
In the second round, Poullain battled in a three-set match with 58th ranked Kyle Seelig out of Ohio State. Poullain dominated early taking the first set 6-1. In the second set, Lucas was up 4-2, before getting knotted up at five. Seelig went on to force a third set after winning the second 7-5. Seelig would continue to win as Poullain’s run at All-Americans came to an end losing the third set 6-2.
Florida State will be back in action on October 19th as they begin competition in the ITA Southeast Regional Championship.
