Greensboro, NC – Following his straight-set win over the nation’s 50th-ranked player, FSU’s Loris Pourroy has been named the ACC’s co-Men’s Tennis Player of the Week. This is the first-ever ACC Player of the Week honor for Pourroy, a junior from Gap, France.
Pourroy led the Seminoles to a key victory over UCF last week. FSU was trailing 1-0 after doubles before Pourroy turned the momentum with a 6-3, 6-2 win on court one over No. 50 Trey Hilderbrand. His performance tied the match and keyed a Florida State comeback in a 4-3 win. Pourroy is now 6-1 on the season in duals while playing exclusively on the top line for FSU in both singles and doubles.
Pourroy and partner Sebastian Arcila had the chance for another top 50 win versus UCF in doubles. The pair was tied 5-5 on court one versus the nation’s No. 41 doubles pair but were unable to complete the upset bid as the point was decided before they could finish their match.
The Seminoles will head on the road to take on Mississippi State September 19. The match is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start and is a make-up date for the meeting that was postponed earlier this season.
