Greensboro, NC – For the second week in a row FSU’s Loris Pourroy has been named the ACC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week. Last week, Pourroy recorded a top 20 singles win and a top 40 doubles win in leading the Seminoles to an upset of No. 18 Mississippi State. Pourroy has now won top 50 singles matches in back-to-back weeks and has repeated as the ACC’s top player in consecutive weeks after having never won the award previously in his career.
Pourroy led the Seminoles to a key road victory over the 18th-ranked Bulldogs securing two of the Seminole’s four points to clinch the match. Pourroy and partner Sebastian Arcila clinched the doubles point for FSU upsetting the nation’s 37th-ranked doubles team 6-2. The win moved the pair to 6-1 in duals this season with all of their matches coming on court one.
With FSU up 1-0, Pourroy set the tone for the win on court one. Facing the nation’s No. 20 singles player, Pourroy not only defeated him in straight sets, but he was the first off securing the victory on court one and putting the Seminoles up 2-0 en route to a 5-2 victory. Pourroy is now 7-1 in singles matches all from the top line.
The Seminoles are back home Friday, February 25 to face Troy at 5:00 p.m. Florida State will take part in a simultaneous match with the FSU women’s tennis team as both programs will honor the military and welcome the FSU Marching Chiefs.
