ATLANTA, Ga. – Florida State beach volleyball’s pairing of redshirt junior Sara Putt and junior Payton Caffrey earned the CCSA Co-Pair of the Week honor this week in recognition of their dominant performance in California. The two went 5-0 at the No. 4 position, helping the Seminoles go 3-3 in the third week of the season.
The pair shares this week’s award with FIU’s Margherita Bianchin and Federica Frasca, who went 3-1 at the No. 2 position at the East Meets West Invitational.
Putt/Caffrey’s five wins last week all came against top-10 programs, as the pair helped the Seminoles take down No. 8 Long Beach State, No. 3 Pepperdine and No. 5 Hawaii – earning a quick straight-set win against the Rainbow Wahine’s No. 4 pair of Drueews/Napoleon. Putt/Caffrey also took down No. 2 USC’s Dennis/Kaiser and No. 1 UCLA’s Monkhouse/Simo.
The pair leads the team with a 12-2 dual record so far this season, right above last week’s CCSA Pair of the Week, Alaina Chacon and Madison Fitzpatrick, who hold a 10-5 record. Putt/Caffrey is the only FSU duo with double-digit wins in a single position, holding a 12-1 record at the No. 4 position.
No. 3 Florida State will hold its annual Garnet and Gold scrimmage this Saturday (March 16) alongside an Alumnae Weekend celebration. The Seminoles return to competition next weekend as they host Arizona, Austin Peay and Stetson in the Seminole Beach Battle.
