Quinney Leads Seminole Women’s Golf Team At Lady Gamecock Classic

Florida State University senior Katie Quinney is in a tie for 12th place in the individual standings and the Seminoles are in ninth place in the team standings after the second round of the Lady Gamecock Classic at the University Club. Quinney carded a five over par 77 in Saturday’s second round and improved her individual position by eight spots after closing the first round in a tie for 20th place.

The University of North Carolina, led by current medalist Ashley Prange, holds the team lead after the first 36 holes of the event. The Tar Heels surpassed South Carolina, the host school, with a 302 team score in the second round. A trio of Tar Heels and a trio of Lady Gamecocks are among the top ten in the individual standings.

Quinney (Atlantic Beach, Fla.), who fired a 77 Saturday, improved on her first round score by one stroke after carding a 78 in round one. She is looking to gain the fifth top-20 finish during her career at Florida State.

Sophomore Caroline Larrson (Danderyd, Sweden) is also in the top 20 in the individual standings and has a two-day total of 156. She fired an even par 72 in the first round and is in a tie for 19th in the individual standings after two rounds.

The final round of 18 holes is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Sunday with a shotgun start.
