Road to the Groza: Day 1

As redshirt sophomore kicker Roberto Aguayo seeks his second straight Lou Groza Award, will be following him from the Palm Beach County Sports Commission’s events on Monday to the College Football Awards Show announcement on Thursday night.

On Monday, Aguayo had a jam-packed day. After leaving Tallahassee on the first flight out at 5:44 a.m., the Mascotte, Fla., native arrived in West Palm Beach at 10 a.m. and immediately went to visit kids at the Palm Beach County Children’s Hospital before a special lunch in the “Lou Groza Room” at a local restaraunt. After lunch, Aguayo – and the other two Lou Groza Award finalists – Brad Craddock of Maryland and Josh Lambert of West Virginia – helped out at a youth kicking clinic at Cardinal Newman High School. Finally, at around 4:45 p.m. Aguayo checked into his hotel befofre putting on a suit to get ready for the first of many banquets this week.
