TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Redshirt senior Clara Robbins was named the TopDrawerSoccer Player of the Week for her performance in the ACC Tournament that also earned her ACC Tournament MVP honors. Junior Jaelin Howell was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week.
This marks the second time this season that Robbins has been named to the TDS Team of the Week and the third time for Howell.
Robbins exploded on offense during the ACC Tournament, recording three goals and two assists in three games while leading the Seminoles’ to their seventh ACC Championship. In the ACC Tournament quarterfinal against No. 12 Notre Dame, Robbins grabbed her first goal of the tournament in the 78th minute on a rocket from 20 yards out off of the right post and into the net.
In the semifinal against No. 6 Duke, Robbins would not score a goal but she would record an assist on the Seminoles’ third goal in FSU’s 4-0 win over the Blue Devils. She saved her best for last in the ACC Championship against No. 1 North Carolina. Robbins scored or assisted on all three goals in the Noles’ 3-2 win over the Tar Heels. She earned her first goal in the second minute and then scored again in the sixth minute, giving Florida State a 2-0 lead. Robbins then assists on the Seminoles’ third goal in the 47th minute, helping to secure Florida State’s 3-2 win and seventh ACC Championship.
Howell helped lead the Noles to an ACC Title with one goal and one assist in the three ACC Tournament games. She gave the Noles a 1-0 lead against Notre Dame in the quarterfinal with a header off of a corner kick for her fourth goal of the season, all on corner kicks. Howell then assisted on the Seminoles’ fourth goal of the game against Duke in the ACC Tournament semifinals.
Florida State secured their seventh ACC Championship in 10 years on Sunday with a 3-2 win over No. 1 North Carolina.
