TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State offensive lineman Ryan Roberts was recognized on the All-ACC Academic Football Team, which was released Thursday.
Roberts, a graduate transfer from Northern Illinois, started all 13 games at tackle for the Seminoles in 2019, holding down the right tackle spot for the first 12 games before moving over to left tackle for the Sun Bowl. He helped pave the way for Cam Akers to become only the third running back in program history with multiple 1,000-yard rushing seasons and also protected quarterbacks who combined to rank 24th nationally with a combined 64.6 completion percentage. Florida State also was one of only nine teams in the country to produce a 1,100-yard rusher and a 1,100-yard receiver in 2019, courtesy of Tamorrion Terry’s 1,188 receiving yards and Akers’ 1,144 rushing yards.
Roberts graduated cum laude from NIU with a bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering and was on the Dean’s List in 2017 and 2018. In his first semester at FSU, he earned a 3.8 grade-point average while pursuing his master’s degree in sport management.
Consideration for the team requires at least a 3.0 GPA for the fall semester and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Athletic achievements are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
Since joining the ACC, Florida State has had 60 different student-athletes earn 89 recognitions on the All-ACC Academic Team.
