Rothman Nominated for USA TODAY Girls Volleyball Player of the Year

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Florida State Volleyball incoming freshman Audrey Rothman has been selected as one of 24 nominees for the USA TODAY Girls Volleyball Player of the Year.

The Spain Park High School product and Birmingham, Ala., native earned a selection to the All-USA TODAY HSSA Girls Volleyball Team. The winner of the national player of the year award, along with three finalists, will be revealed on July 31 during an on-demand broadcast.

Rothman’s senior year in 2021 was historic, guiding her high school to its first state championship. Her standout season included 709 kills, 247 digs, 71 blocks, 67 service aces and 35 assists as the Jaguars compiled a 47-4 record.

Rothman, who will enroll at Florida State University this summer, was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association First-Team All-American as well as a MaxPreps First-Team All-American. She was also crowned as Alabama’s Gatorade Player of the Year.

The 6-foot-4 outside hitter joins a Seminole squad with plenty of potential next season as it returns several key players that reached the NCAA Second Round in 2021. Last year’s squad was one of the youngest in program history.
