GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 14 Noles will have 12 individual swims tonight on the last night of the ACC Championships.
Freshman Peter Varjasi will compete in the A final of the 100 free after qualifying third out of prelims at 42.71. Senior Max Polianski took the last spot in the 200 fly, qualifying eighth at 1:44.25.
Junior Jackson Lucas led the Noles in the 200 back, qualifying for the consolation heat at behind a personal best of 1:43.28. Senior Griffin Alaniz will compete in the C final as he was 21st at 1:45.20 ahead of freshman Nick Vance who tied for 23rd at 1:46.33.
In addition to Varjasi, senior Vladimir Stefanik qualified in ninth place of the 100 free at 43.11, which was a personal best. Sophomore Jakub Ksiazek will also compete in the B final (43.48) after touching in 13th.
Sophomore Max McCusker finished 18th at 43.72 and will swim in the bonus heat.
Both freshman Nevada Wood (1:57.59) and sophomore Izaak Bastian (1:58.03) will race in the consolation heat of the 200 breast and freshman Balazs Berecz was 24th at 1:59.36 and will swim in the C final. Both Wood and Berecz clocked best times.
Freshman Maurice Ingenrieth tied for 14th in the 200 fly with a best time of 1:45.06 and will compete in the B final tonight.
The 400 free relay will close out the meet.
The 1650 free will be swum before finals at 6 p.m., which will air on the ACC Network Extra with Dave Armstrong and legendary swimming analyst Rowdy Gaines on the call.
