TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) –
Chase Seiffert, who helped lead the Florida State men’s golf team to a ninth place finish at the 2012 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship Finals, won the 95th Annual Florida State Amateur Championship on June 24. The event was played at The Bear’s Club and The Loxahatchee Club in Jupiter, Fla. Seiffert carded a one under par score of 287 for the four round (72 hole) event and defeated Joe Alferi by four stokes to win the championship.
Seiffert (Panama City, Fla.) carded a 68 and was in a tie for first place after the first round; shot a 73 and was in second place after the second round; carded a 73 in the third round and regained a share of the individual lead and took over the lead in the fourth and final round and held on to win the event.
Hank Lebioda (Winter Springs, Fla.), one of four incoming recruits for head coach Trey Jones and the Seminoles for the fall of 2012, finished in a tie for seventh place in the individual standings with scores of 77-69-76-75 for a total of 297. He was 10 strokes off of the pace of Seiffert, one of his future teammates at Florida State.
