Seminole Soccer Summer Camps

May 11, 2012

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ( – The Mark Krikorian Soccer Academy is offering two unique camp opportunities for the summer.

The Summer Day Academy (June 4-7; 9AM-12PM) offers boys and girls aged 5-18 an opportunity to develop fundamental soccer skills in an environment that promotes soccer confidence, enjoyment, and good sportsmanship. One of the highlights of the camp is the famed “World Cup”, where players are placed into teams representing different countries for a round robin tournament on the last day of camp. Groups are formed based on age and ability to ensure a fantastic experience for every camper. The FSU coaching staff runs the Summer Day Academy on a rotational basis so that each group has access to all the coaches.

The Elite Residential Camp (July 7-10) is designed for the serious soccer player and draws some of the best young talent from across the nation and even internationally to Tallahassee. The mission of the elite academy is simple: provide every player with an unforgettable soccer experience that takes them to a new playing level. To help accomplish this Mark Krikorian brings in a combination of elite college and club coaches with current and former collegiate players. The primary focus will be on technical application, as technique is the foundation of all success. Campers will be introduced to the tactical side of the game and be afforded a firsthand glimpse into the “beautiful game” that is Seminole Soccer.

What makes the team academy so unique is the use of the team’s coaching staff input along with cutting edge video technology to create a powerful learning environment. Players will gain a better understanding of their roles and responsibilities within the structure of the team. The use of video analysis of the actual team in action gives exact visual feedback and allows the FSU staff to design training sessions to meet the unique needs of the team. Other benefits of the Team Academy are: specialized daily Goalkeeper training, MCL/ACL injury prevention, nutrition for the elite athlete, and guidance in the recruiting process. Individuals are also invited to register as a “free-agent” for the Team Academy so that they can enjoy the same high level coaching and instruction.

Project 4.0 Close to Capacity
With a successful year coming to an end, registration for the third season of Project 4.0, a developmental soccer training academy, is underway. Project 4.0, under the guidance of the Florida State Soccer staff, is a training academy for players in 2nd through 8th grade that allows players the unique opportunity to work with current college coaches and FSU players. The training sessions focus on technique and skill development through small group instruction. The program is designed around four basic principles: Commitment, Education, Leadership and Excellence. Coaches will encourage players to strive for excellence in both academics and athletics and will provide players with opportunities to develop leadership skills.

Project 4.0 is held on Tuesday evenings from 5:30-7:00PM at the Seminole Soccer Complex and is designed to supplement club or school training. Goalkeeper-specific training is also available from FSU Goalkeeper Coach Mike Bristol.
