Box Score

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State volleyball (8-4) swept Eastern Kentucky (8-5) 3-0 (30-23, 30-23, 30-23) on Saturday to claim the FSU Classic tournament title. Amanda Santos was named the tournament MVP, while Aisha Carr and Kristen Rust were named to the All-Tournament team. Santos had another stellar outing with 10 kills and was solid defensively, while Carr added 14 kills with four blocks. Also for the defense, Sarah Griffin (12) and Cassie McLaughlin (10) combined for 22 digs.

All three games were closely fought only to see the Seminoles break away late in each game. FSU took all three games by a score of 30-23. Eastern Kentucky had tight matches against Miami and Jacksonville and may have proven to worn down the Colonels leading into the match with Florida State.

The three game sweep is the first in a tournament for the Seminoles this season and is currently a season long win streak.

Jennifer Anderson controlled the offense with 19 assists and Jessica Skower filled in nicely at the setter position with 18 assists of her own.

Florida State opens ACC competition next weekend in North Carolina. The Seminoles will face North Carolina State on Friday, September 26 and North Carolina on Saturday, September 27.
