Feb. 23, 2002

Florida State sophomore Carrie Sordel moved into the top 15 in the individual standings and the Seminole women’s golf team moved into 11th-place in the team standings after the second round of play at the SunTrust Lady Gator Women’s Golf Invitational at the University of Florida Golf Course.

Sordel began the day in a tie for 24th-place and moved up 11 spots while the Seminoles began the day 13th-place and moved up two sports in the team standings.

Sordel (Windermere, Fla.) finished the second of three rounds in a tie for 13th-place. She carded a 77 in Saturday’s second round after finishing with a 76 in round one. Sordel is looking to earn the best finish of her seven-tournament collegiate career. Her previous best finish came at the 2001 ACC championship as she finished in 25th-place.

Sophomore Katie Quinney (Atlantic Beach, Fla.) is in a tie for 22nd-place after two rounds and is looking for her best finish as a Seminole. The transfer from Jacksonville University earned two individual victories in dual matches during her Dolphin career (2000-01) and finished tied for 27th at the Hatter Classic last fall as a Seminole.

Junior Kristin Tamulis (Naples, Fla.) is in a tie for 31st-place heading into the third round. She is within seven strokes of moving into the top 10 in the individual standings.

The third and final round of 18 holes begins Sunday morning at 8 a.m.
