Florida State University senior Alison Curdt shot 73 and is in a tie for ninth place in the individual standings and the Seminole women’s golf team is in ninth place in the team standings after the first round of the Landfall Invitational on the Jack Nicklaus Course at the Country Club of Landfall. Curdt carded her second lowest score of the fall season and is only four strokes behind the current medalists, Kailin Downs of New Mexico and Suzie Fisher of Tulsa.

New Mexico, which entered the event ranked No. 5 in the nation, leads the team competition by nine strokes over second-place Tulane. The Seminoles are within striking distance of the lead pack and are only eight strokes out of fifth place.

Curdt was one of 12 golfers in the 60-team field to shoot 73 or better during the first round of the tournament. She has now shot four rounds of 74 or better this fall with her best round of 70 coming during the Price’s Give ‘Em Five Intercollegiate at New Mexico State Oct. 6. Curdt, who entered the tournament averaging just over 76 strokes per round this fall, better her mean by more than three strokes.

Freshman Jaclyn Burch (Wildwood, Mo.) continued her fine play of late as she carded a six-over par 78. She carded a 74 in the second round of the ACC/SEC Challenge and has finished with four scores of 78 or below in her last six rounds. Burch is playing her first season of collegiate golf as a newcomer to the Seminoles’ roster.

Seniors Katie Quinney (Atlantic Beach, Fla.) and Carrie Sordel (Windermere, Fla.) and junior Caroline Larsson (Danderyd, Sweden) are also competing for the Seminoles. Quinney is Florida State’s top scoring golfer this fall with an average of 75.00 strokes in eight rounds during four tournaments.
