TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) –
Florida State’s ACC basketball schedule will include home games against North Carolina, Syracuse and Notre Dame and its road schedule will see games at Duke, NC State and Pittsburgh as the ACC announced opponents and sites for the 2013-14 conference schedule. The Seminoles will play eight conference games against teams that played in the 2013 NCAA Tournament on their 18-game ACC schedule.
The Seminoles will face each of the 14 teams in the ACC at least once and will play two games each against NCAA Tournament participant Miami, NIT participants Maryland and Virginia along with Clemson in home-and home series against those four teams. Maryland’s appearance at the Donald L. Tucker Center will mark their last as a member of the ACC.
The Seminoles will play nine games at home in the Donald L. Tucker Center against North Carolina, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami, Virginia and Virginia Tech. The Seminoles will travel to play at Duke, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Clemson, Maryland, Miami, NC State, Virginia and Wake Forest.
The Seminoles’ ACC schedule will run from January 4 through March 8 with the 61st Annual ACC Tournament returning to the Greensboro Coliseum March 12-16, 2014.
The additions of Notre Dame, Syracuse and Pitt to the league beginning with the upcoming 2013-14 season has made the ACC arguably the best college basketball conference in the nation. The Seminoles will now face the No. 3 (North Carolina), No. 4 (Duke) and No. 5 (Syracuse) winningest programs of all time in college on an annual basis. Defending national champion Louisville will join the ACC and be on Florida State’s schedule for the 2014-15 season.
Florida State is the third winningest team in the ACC since the start of the 2005-06 season and has played in a school record eight consecutive postseason tournaments. The Seminoles return three starters for their 2012-13 team including senior All-American candidate Okaro White (12.4 ppg and a team-leading 5.9 rpg).
Florida State’s entire 2013-14 schedule will be released at a later date.
