Florida State University center David Anderson, who is ranked 12th in school history in blocked shots with 55, was named to the 2000-01 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic basketball team. The criteria for selection to the team is a combination of academic and athletic performance.
Anderson, a Lamar, Colo., native needs only four blocked shots to move into 11th-place and 23 to move into Florida State’s all-time top-10. He has played in 59 consecutive games entering the 2001-02 season, every game of his Seminole career since his arrival.
As a junior, he averaged 1.1 points, 1.2 rebounds and blocked 12 shots in 30 games as a member of Florida State’s season-long 10-man rotation. He blocked a season-high two shots against Vanderbilt (Dec. 9) and blocked at least one shot in 11 games during the season. He scored a season-high five points in the season-opener against Florida (Nov. 17) on a perfect two-of-two shooting from the field
He has been named to the ACC honor role twice during his two-year career at Florida State.
The Seminoles begin practice for the 2001-02 season on Oct. 13. The season opener is Nov. 17 at Florida with the home opener coming on Nov. 20 against Savannah State.
