TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State senior kicker Graham Gano was named the ACC Specialist of the Week for the second consecutive week following his stellar performance versus Virginia Tech. The senior extended his consecutive field goal streak to 13 and also hit a 50-yard field goal for the fourth straight game. He was joined by defensive end Everette Brown who set a personal best with three sacks and four tackles for loss.
The hottest kicker in the nation, Gano once again played a major role in an FSU conference victory. Gano broke the school record with his 13th consecutive field goal and extended his own school record with a 50-yard field goal in a four straight game. He has twice as many 50-yard field goals as anyone in the nation now. He accounted for 12 of FSU’s 30 points on top of punting three times for 155 yards (51.7 average). It was his first time punting this season.
Brown was a one-man wrecking crew versus Virginia Tech Saturday afternoon. Brown sacked the Hokie quarterbacks three times becoming the first FSU player to record three sacks in a game since Alonzo Jackson in 2002. The four tackles for loss pushed Brown’s career total to 36.5 moving him past Corey Simon (33) into sole possession of sixth place all-time at Florida State. Brown set a single-game career-high with four tackles for loss against the Hokies. His three sacks set a new single-game career-high surpassing his previous record of two set last year against Alabama and earlier this year against Chattanooga.
Gano and Brown will return to action this weekend at 3:30 p.m. in Atlanta, GA versus Georgia Tech. The game will be broadcast by ABC.
