March 23, 2013

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 16 Florida State men’s golf team travels to the C&F Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William and Mary. The 32-team tournament is taking place on the par 71 Kingsmill Resort-Rive Course running beginning Sunday, March 25 through Tuesday, March 27. This marks the Seminoles first appearance in the tournament.

“This weekend is a completely different challenge,” said head coach Trey Jones. “We want to toughen our players up with a course with different grass greens, 40 degrees weather, wind and rain. Everyone is doing a good job taking care of their business and staying focused. If we keep doing that, we’ll get better.”

This tournament the Seminoles are traveling No. 4 sophomore Daniel Berger, seniors Chase Seiffert and Doug Letson, junior Joaquin Lolas and freshman Rowin Caron. This marks the seventh different line-up of the season for the deep Florida State squad.

Berger is coming off of his second individual win of the season with wins at both the Seminole Intercollegiate and the Gator Invitational. Caron is coming off of his best finish of the year after carding a 9-under 207 at the Seminole Intercollegiate for fifth place. Seiffert is also coming off of his best finish of the year with a tied for second showing at the same tournament.

Letson has four finishes in the top 20 this year, along with a tied for third showing at the Gator Invitational in February. Lolas is playing in his second tournament of the year. He finished tied for seventh at the Seminole Intercollegiate last weekend.

The Seminoles are part of a 32-team field including Appalachian State, Binghamton, Boston College, Bowling Green State, Bucknell, Drake, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, George Mason, Georgetown, High Point, IPFW, James Madison, Longwood, Loyola, Marquette, Michigan, Mount St. Mary’s, Notre Dame, Radford, Richmond, Rutgers, St. Joseph’s, Saint Peter’s, Tennessee, Toledo, Towson, UNCG, William & Mary, Wright State and Xavier.
