TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The top-ranked Florida State Seminoles (2-0)
prepared for this weekend’s contest with No. 20 North Carolina State
(3-0) with a 22-period practice in shells this afternoon.
“NC State is not 3-0 because they are lucky,” said head coach
Bobby Bowden. “They play hard and hustle for the entire game. They
have a pair of excellent cornerbacks and their special teams are as good
as anybody in the country. That is something we have worked on.”
Before practice began, All-American noseguard Corey Simon and
center Eric Thomas had a collision during agilities and conditioning.
Both suffered head contusions after rolling into eachother in a drill
and missed the remainder of practice. Both are expected to return
“Eric Thomas and Corey Simon bumped heads during agilities
without helmets,” said Bowden. They missed practice and hopefully it is
nothing more than that.”
Bowden said the coaching staff will adjust the practice schedule
if Hurricane Floyd makes it necessary.
“We hope we can get outside and practice,” said Bowden. “If we
can’t, the coaches have a rainy day schedule in place. We’ll just play
it by ear.”
Offensive tackle Ross Brannon sat out today with an inflamed
Saturday’s game at Doak Campbell Stadium is scheduled for an
3:30 p.m. kickoff on ABC.
