Seminoles Put Final Touches On Game Plan For #11 Virginia Tech

Nov. 8, 2007

Tallahassee, Fla.Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden has won 15 consecutive games versus Virginia Tech. If he is able to extend that streak to 16, it could be one of the biggest wins of his career. Bowden is currently sitting at 299 victories at Florida State. With one more win he will join Penn State‘s Joe Paterno as the only Division I coaches to ever win 300 games at one school. It won’t be an easy task versus the 11th-ranked Hokies but Saturday at 3:30 Bowden will shoot for history.

QB Drew Weatherford:

On remembering the ACC Championship game against Virginia Tech:

“I remember a lot actually. It was a great game. It was one of the most memorable games that I’ve played in since I’ve been here.”

On if Virginia Tech’s play has changed since two years ago:

“Virginia Tech doesn’t really change very much. They play with a lot of effort and intensity and they make a lot of plays on the defense and special teams. They play very hard; they play very similar to how we play.”

On playing in Blacksburg for the first time:

“It’s a special place, I’ve obviously never been there but I’ve heard the environment is different and I’m really looking forward to it. A lot of good games have been played there; a lot of good players have played there.”

On what he has heard about Coach Bowden reaching 300 wins:

“I didn’t know about that. We can’t really worry about those kinds of things. We just got to go out and take care of business. He’s a great coach and I’d love to give him that win, but that is secondary at this point.”

On what it would be like to be a part of a milestone victory for Coach Bowden:

“That’s something I would obviously we would love to be part of but we’re not going to be able to accomplish that if we focus on things like that. We’ve really got to focus on what we have to do as an offense. But like as I said obviously it would be great to be part of it.”

NG Budd Thacker:

On his father playing for Virginia Tech:
“My dad played for Virginia Tech, starting middle linebacker last time Virginia Tech beat Florida State in 1975, my dad was starting middle linebacker. My dad would always watch the game. I’ve seen more games in their stadium then I’ve seen here, and I’ve been playing here for two years now. We always took trips up there. Spend a lot of time up there with family and go to a lot of football games. I’m looking forward to playing up there.”

On building on the BC win:

“It’s just another game, you got to look at it as you look at BC, you’ve got Virginia Tech. It’s just another game. You can’t look at it as anything big, you just got to go out there and have fun. I’m sure there is a little something extra. I definitely got to go out there and play my best but without everybody else on that same page, it don’t mean nothing. So we just got to go out there and play as a team, play together and show them what Florida State football is all about.”
