Seminoles Put On Full Pads For 24 Periods On Wednesday

Sept. 19, 2007

Tallahassee, Fla.The Seminole football team was back at work Wednesday preparing for the 16th-ranked Crimson Tide (3-0) in the River City Showdown. The team spent 24 periods on the practice fields in full pads. FSU spent an extensive portion of the practice working versus scout teams.

Head Coach Bobby Bowden:

“We went in full pads today and got in a little goal line scrimmage.  A lot of heavy work today.  (Budd) Thacker got hurt; I don’t know how bad but he hurt his toe.  Knowing him (Thacker) he’d still go.  I don’t know how bad it is – it’s kind of like a sprained toe, I think.  That’s what he had taped.”
On Damon McDaniel and Rod Owens
“They are doing good; we just need to play them.  It is hard to do it in a tight game.  Every game we’ve had has been tight.”
Junior Cornerback Tony Carter
“I’m excited that we came together (against Colorado).  We wanted the shutout but we didn’t get it so we are going to fight the next game to try and get a shutout, play defense and sound football like we did this past game.”
On Playing In His Hometown of Jacksonville against Alabama
“That’s going to be lots of fun I’m trying to get some more tickets so I won’t disappoint anybody.  It should be lots of fun.  All my hometown friends and my family that don’t make trips and travel will get to see me play – its going be something special to play in the city I grew up in.”
On Alabama‘s Receivers
Alabama‘s receivers are a pretty talented group.  They are very speedy with good size and they have a lot of talent.  They are probably one of the best groups we are going to play all season.  We are coming in this week and next week trying to get better on technique and the small things because when you are playing against good receivers you have to come with it every play.”
Senior Kicker Gary Cismesia
“We’ve got a coach who is watching over us (Coach Jody Allen).  He comes out and gives us a schedule to do every day and he films practice so we can go in and actually watch film other than our game film.  I think that’s helped us out a lot.”
On Kicking Well As A Senior
“I’ve started out good so far and I’m just trying to stay consistent throughout the year, keep my head right, not get a big head, keep doing what I have been doing and hopefully not miss the whole year.”
Junior Punter Graham Gano
“The film – we can go up after practice and check everything out.  I know I have fixed a lot of things by watching film.  The routine we have at practice has helped us out as well; it helps keeps us on track.”
On Punting In The Altitude At Colorado
“I talked to their (Colorado‘s) kickers before the game and they said it wouldn’t make much of a difference.  It made a little bit of a difference – it was a lot of fun kicking there.”
