Raleigh, N.C. – Led by No. 39 Daneika Borthwick, Florida State (9-11, 1-9 ACC) will play its final two regular season road matches of the year at No. 37 NC State (11-7, 4-5 ACC) Friday afternoon and No. 20 Wake Forest (17-6, 6-5 ACC) Sunday. This is the third of four scheduled trips to the Tar Heel state this season, following January’s ITA Kick-Off Weekend at Duke and a road weekend at Duke and North Carolina in February. The Noles will also play the ACC Tournament in Cary, N.C. April 20-24.
The 69th-ranked Seminoles are led by the senior Borthwick, who has won three straight matches, all against ranked opponents. Last week, Borthwick defeated a pair of higher-ranked, Top 50 players from Notre Dame and Syracuse. If her success continues for the final two weeks of the regular season and in the ACC Tournament, Borthwick should play in the NCAA Individual Championships for the second time in her career. She played with Kerrie Cartwright in the 2014 doubles bracket.
Against NC State on Friday at 2:00 p.m., the Seminoles will face an NC State team that they have dominated since joining the ACC in 1992. Florida State leads the all-time series against the Wolfpack, 22-4, and have won the past four matches between the schools. NC State is led by No. 38 Martina Frantova, and the Wolfpack are coming off a 6-1 loss Wednesday night against No. 2 North Carolina.
