TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 17 Florida State men’s golf team was selected to its ninth straight NCAA appearance on Monday morning. The team plays in the Raleigh Regional as a three seed at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course at NC State from May 15th – 17th. The Seminoles tee off at 8 a.m. on Thursday. Admission is free to the three-day event.
The Seminoles enter the Raleigh Regional ranked No. 17 in the nation by GolfStat and 24th by GolfWeek Magazine. The Seminoles finished second at the ACC Championship in April and earned a team title at the USF Invitational in March. Florida State added four more top five team finishes on the year.
With the team’s ninth NCAA appearance, head coach Trey Jones is now tied for the most NCAA appearances at Florida State with Don Veller.
Joining Florida State from the ACC is Georgia Tech as the No. 1 seed and Wake Forest as the No. 8 seed. Along with them are Washington, Texas A&M, Mercer, Kentucky, Texas Tech, South Alabama, Memphis, Minnesota, Rice, Bethune-Cookman and 10 individuals.
Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 15-17. The low five teams and low individuals not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals to make up the 30 qualifying team and six individuals that will compete for the NCAA title.
