TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State men’s tennis team is slated to begin their fall season this weekend as they head a few hours north to compete in the Thomasville Collegiate Invitational held at Glen Arven Country Club.
The Tournament runs from Friday through Sunday (Sept. 14-16) and will feature players from Florida State, West Florida, University of South Alabama, Gwinnett College, Valdosta State and Florida A&M.
The format of the event will be a round robin with each team playing each other. The first round will have the team’s top two players in attendance playing in singles matches against the other team’s top two singles players and the third and fourth player will play doubles against the other team’s third and fourth player. This will then flip in every round after that.
The Seminoles are sending four players including sophomores Chase Wood and Sebastian Arcila, as well as newcomers Richard Thongoana and Enzo Le Seguillion. Wood comes into the fall after an impressive freshman campaign that witnessed him go 20-8 on the singles court. Arcila enters the 2018 fall season after going a perfect 5-0 in singles as a freshman. Thongoana comes into his freshman season with high praise as he was one of the top 85 juniors in the world. Le Seguillon comes to Tallahassee from France and looks to make an instant impact in his first season.
Following this week’s Thomasville Invite, the Garnet and Gold will be heading to the Bedford Cup in Lake Nona, Fla. (Sept. 28-30).
