Seminoles To Host Athletes In Action Monday

Oct. 30, 2005

The Florida State women’s basketball Seminoles may have a few tricks and treats up their sleeves this Halloween as the squad tips off its exhibition season with a 7 p.m. tilt with Athletes In Action, Monday, October 31st at the Tucker Center. Admission is free.

“It’s still October and we get to play an exhibition game,” FSU head coach Sue Semrau said. “It’s certainly the earliest we’ve ever played a game, but it’s a great opportunity for us to get an early look at our team with just over two weeks of practice in.”

The Seminoles return nine letterwinners, including three starters, and have brought aboard six freshmen for 2005-06. Due to preseason bumps and bruises, however, FSU will be without the services of seniors Ganiyat Adeduntan (ankle) and LaQuinta Neely (back) for Monday’s game.

“Unfortunately Ganiyat or Quint won’t be able to play Monday,” Semrau said. “They’re nursing some nagging injuries but with a full roster this season, we will use this game to get some game action in for our young players. With six freshmen, it brings a whole new dynamic to the team and building chemistry is something we’ve been working on. It will be exciting to get the team on the floor playing against someone other than themselves and our scout team.”

Monday’s contest vs. Athletes In Action will be the first of two exhibitions that the Seminoles will play before hosting Georgia Southern on Friday, November 19th in the season-opener. FSU will face EA Sports on Monday, November 7th at 7 p.m.
