The game will mark the third consecutive season the Seminoles will play in the Orange Bowl Classic.  Florida State defeated UMass, 60-55, on Dec. 21, 2013 in the Orange Bowl Classic.  The game marks the first time the two will face each other since USF took a 68-67 win over the Seminoles while playing at a neutral site in the Glenn Wilkes Classic on November 18, 2007. The classic marks the first match up between Seminoles head coach Leonard Hamilton and USF first year head coach Orlando Antigua.  Hamilton has an overall record of 1-1 against USF (1-0 at Miami and 0-1 at Florida State).

The Florida State men’s basketball team will wear turquoise Nike N7 uniforms against USF on Saturday to raise awareness for bringing sport to Native American and Aboriginal youth.  It marks the fourth time (and second time this season) the Seminoles will wear the special uniforms.  The Seminoles wore the turquoise uniforms earlier this season against UMass in final round of the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic at the Mohegan Sun on November 23, 2014.  Florida State make a distinct departure from its traditional school colors to don turquoise Nike N7 uniforms to stand for the importance of bringing sport and physical activity to Native American and Aboriginal youth. “The Seminole Tribe of Florida approached us about this program and we are honored and excited to wear these unique uniforms,” said head coach Leonard Hamilton. “The color is significant as it is deeply symbolic of friendship and community in the Native American culture.” Florida State’s game against USF marks the fourth time in the last two seasons the Seminoles will have worn the very special uniforms. The Seminoles first wore the turquoise uniforms in their 89-61 win over UT-Martin in Tallahassee on November 17, 2013.
