Snaer, Reid And Gibson In NBA Summer League Action

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) –
Michael Snaer, Xavier Gibson and Ryan Reid – have earned roster spots during the two NBA Summer Leagues in Orlando, Fla., July 7-12 and Las Vegas, Nev., July 12-22.

Snaer (Florida State class of 2013) and Reid (Florida State class of 2009) will join forces as they compete on the Oklahoma City Thunder roster for the Orlando Summer league games while Gibson (Florida State class of 2012) along with Snaer, will compete on a team in the Las Vegas Summer League.

Snaer, who recently graduated from Florida State with a bachelor’s degree in Family and Child Science, is on the Oklahoma City Thunder roster for the games in Orlando, Fla., and will also be on the Los Angeles Lakers roster for the games in Las Vegas starting July 12.

Snaer, one of Florida State’s most decorated players, was a three-time All-ACC and two-time ACC All-Defensive Team selection during his collegiate career. He was named to the All-ACC Second Team as a junior, to the All-ACC Third Team as a senior and to the All-ACC Freshman team in his first season as a Seminole. As a senior Snaer was named to the 2013 Lefty Driesell Defensive All-American Team.

Snaer was the winner of the Everett Case Award as the Most Valuable Player of the 2012 ACC Tournament in leading the Seminoles to the first ACC Championship in school history.

Snaer is recognized as the all-time NCAA leader with six career buzzer-beating, game-winning shots during his career – two during his junior season (Jan. 21, 2102 at Duke and Feb. 16, 2012 at home against Virginia Tech) and four during his senior season (Jan. 24, 2013 at home against Clemson, Jan. 30, 2013 at home against Maryland, Feb. 5, 2013 at Georgia Tech and March 7, 2013 at home against Virginia. Snaer averaged a team-leading and career-high 14.8 points, a career-high 4.5 rebounds, a career-high and team-leading 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals his final season as a Seminole.

Reid, a 2010 NBA Draft selection of the Indiana Pacers, is very familiar with the game style of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Reid spent the past few years playing in the Oklahoma City Thunder system, where he began his professional career during the 2010-11 season. He played with the Tulsa 66ers in the NBA Developmental League in 2010-11, spent part of the 2011-2012 season with the Thunder in the NBA and played in France where he averaged 15.6 minutes, 6.5 points and 4.1 rebounds during the 2012-13 season.

Gibson, a member of the winningest senior class in school history and one of only three players in school history who played in four NCAA Tournaments during his career (2009-12), averaged a career-high 6.8 points, a career high 4.3 rebounds and a career-high 1.3 blocked shots per game his senior year as he helped lead Florida State to its first ACC Championship.

Gibson, who will play with the Sacramento Kings in the Las Vegas Summer League games next week, spent the past season playing in Greece with Panelefsiniakos AOK Eleusina where he averaged 16.1 minutes, 8.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.

The 22-team Las Vegas Summer league will began July 12. Teams participating in the games this year are the Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Bobcats, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors, L.A. Clippers, L.A. Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, NBA D-League Select, New Orleans Pelicans, New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors and the Washington Wizards.

The games started Sunday at the practice facility of the Orlando Magic. Both saw court time Monday during Oklahoma City’s 79-78 win over Orlando. Snaer played 13 minutes, shooting three of six from the field, was one of here from the 3-point arc, added two rebounds and scored seven points. Reid earned eight minutes of playing time, scored two points on one of one shooting from the field and contributing one assist.

The Thunder will take on the Detroit Pistons Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.
