Softball Opens Fall Ball Saturday With Tripleheader

Sept. 26, 2003

Tallahassee, FL –
The Florida State softball team, which finished the season ranked 19th and played in its 16th NCAA Tournament last year, begins preparations to defend its ACC title with three scrimmages Saturday afternoon. All three games will take place at the Seminole Softball Complex and there is no admission charge.

Florida State opens play at 1:00 p.m. against the University of West Florida, then faces Indian River Community College at 3:00 p.m. and closes out the first day of fall ball versus North Florida Community College at 7:00 p.m. The three scrimmages will give head coach Dr. JoAnne Graf and her staff their first look at what should be a team stacked with talent come spring.

“It will be great to get a chance to see how some of our new kids react to other teams and pitchers,” said Graf. “We have had a really good summer and the players seem to be as dedicated a group as any we have had here at FSU. Saturday is the first step in getting ready to have another successful spring campaign.”

This will be your only chance to see the FSU softball team this fall as the Seminoles will only have one other play date where they will be on the road for two games in Massachusetts. The Tribe will take on UMass and Quinnipiac Saturday, October 4 at 12:00 and 2:00.

The complete 2004 spring softball schedule is now available on line at The 2004 slate is highlighted by visits from Florida, Notre Dame, 2002 ACC Champion Georgia Tech, North Carolina and the newest member of the ACC softball family NC State. There is also a ton of tournament action all taking place at the Seminole Softball Complex and as always there is no admission charge.
