Garnered third team Preseason All-America honors from Perfect Game…finished the season earning first team All-America accolades from the ABCA and Perfect Game, second team All-American honors from Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball and the NCBWA…finished the 2012 season as the ACC leader in hits with 96…also ranked in the top 10 in the league in batting average (.376), doubles (21), RBI (61) total bases (129) and on-base percentage (.452)…an All-ACC first team first baseman as a junior in 2012, hit an ACC-best .381 against league opponents in 30 games…among national leaders, ranked in the top 50 in hits (10th), doubles (26th), sacrifice flies (26th), RBI (29th) and batting average (39th)…led the Seminoles in 2012 with 19 multi-RBI games and was second on the team with 28 multi-hit games…registered the only five-hit game of the season against Rhode Island as the finished the game a triple shy of hitting for the cycle collecting three singles, a double and a home run…also turned in a solid defensive performance at first base finishing the season with a .988 fielding percentage…named a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award…selected in the sixth round of the 2012 MLB First Year Player Draft by the New York Mets.


Started all 65 games at first base in leading FSU to the NCAA Super Regionals for the fourth year in a row…hit .343 (84-for-245), good for the second best average on the team, with 17 doubles, a team-high four triples, eight home runs and 60 RBI…finished with a team-high 10 sacrifices including seven sac-flies…was 10-for-12 in stolen bases…finished the year ranked in the top 10 in the ACC in six offensive categories including RBI (3rd), triples (t-4th), total bases (5th), hits (t-6th), batting average (8th) and slugging percentage (9th)…opened the season driving in at least one run in nine straight games…finished second on the team with 17 multi-RBI games…tied a season-high driving in four runs twice – first against Maine and then against Duke…at one point during the season put together a career-best 15-game hitting streak…closed out the year with at least one hit in 28 of the last 31 games including 15 multi-hit games…went a perfect 5-for-5 in the series finale at Virginia Tech – finished the series against the Hokies hitting .571 with four RBI and five runs…continued swinging a hot bat in the NCAA Tournament hitting .423 (11-for-26) over six games…registered four doubles, three home runs, seven RBI and 11 runs scored, while posting a perfect fielding percentage in 59 chances…recorded a hit in all six games including a 4-for-4 performance in game two of the NCAA Super Regionals versus Texas A&M…also set an ACC individual game-high with five runs in that must-win game two against the Aggies…career .443 hitter in 15 NCAA Tournament games…concluded the year with a .988 fielding percentage committing just eight errors in 643 fielding opportunities.


Emerged as the Seminoles’ starting first baseman in a breakout rookie season, which culminated with earning second team Freshman All-American honors by Ping! Baseball…appeared in 67 games and made 64 starts; 63 of those at first base…batted .326 and drove in 39 runs on the strength of 15 doubles and eight home runs…finished with a .507 slugging percentage…made strides defensively to field at a .986 clip…committed two errors over the final 45 games, including a 35-game, error-free stretch…first collegiate hit came in first at-bat on opening day – a single through the middle…went 3-for-5 in game 2 of the Georgia State series…unloaded his first homer against Florida in Tampa; a towering first-inning blast on a 1-0 pitch…was 3-for-3 in game 1 against Georgia…led team with a .500 average against top-ranked Virginia…tied his collegiate best with three hits, including his first triple in the series finale…hit .375 against Virginia Tech with a double and two RBI and led the `Noles with four runs scored… was perfect against UNF in Tallahassee, reaching base on four plate appearances behind a pair of singles and a homer…set a then-career high with four RBI…topped that with a five RBI effort in the series finale against Wake Forest, capped by a three-run blast…hit .417 against the Demon Deacons with six runs scored…belted a solo homer – one of four by the `Noles – in the series finale against Miami…drove in five runs over three games against LeMoyne…matched career-highs with three runs and three hits in a personal-best six at bats during the 13-inning marathon win over Jacksonville…first multi-homer game came in the series opener at Clemson on consecutive at-bats in the fourth and sixth innings…drove in two runs on a pair of sacrifice flies in the ACC Championship game against NC State…was flawless in 31 fielding chances during the four-game tournament…named to NCAA Norwich Regional All-Tournament team when he led the `Noles with a .500 average…led all `Noles for the second consecutive week when he hit .583 in three Super Regional games at home against Vanderbilt…matched his career-high with a pair of three-hit games…homered in each of the first two games and struck out just once in 13 plate appearances…finished the NCAA Tournament leading all FSU batters with a .457 average (16-for-35), which included four doubles, two homers and seven RBI…hit .308 in the College World Series, including a three-hit game in the elimination game against TCU.


A four-sport star at Tate High School, playing four years of baseball and football, two years of basketball and a year of golf…received all-area Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2009…earned first team Pensacola all-area honors in 2008 and 2009…named an all-star in football and baseball as a senior…participated at the Team One South Showcase where he was rated as the No. 1 prospect…played in the 2008 Under Armour All-American Game and was champion of the Homerun Derby contest at Wrigley Field…played in the Power Showcase at Tropicana Field…received Academic All-America honors in golf… drafted in the 19th round by the Texas Rangers in the 2009 MLB Draft.


Son of David and Cyndi Boyd…major is sociology…played 2010 & 2011 summer ball in the Cape Cod League for the Orleans Firebirds…hopes to pursue a career in the Major Leagues…born December 30, 1990.
