SENIOR (2017):

Appeared in a team-high 36 games in 2017, all out of the bullpen…his 36 relief appearances led the Atlantic Coast Conference and were the sixth-most nationally…36 relief appearances are also the 10th-most in single-season history at FSU…had a 4-2 record with a 4.05 earned run average in 33.1 innings pitched, with 37 strikeouts…went a season-high three innings against No. 3 Clemson, allowing three hits and one unearned run in FSU’s 7-6 win…struck out five in FSU’s Regional game against Tennessee Tech…pitched in all three games of the College World Series, allowing just two hits and striking out two in 2.0 innings…in addition to the win over Clemson, also had wins against UCF, North Carolina in the ACC Championship Game and Tennessee Tech…against the Tar Heels, went 1.1 innings without allowing a hit or run in FSU’s come-from-behind 7-3 win to earn its seventh ACC title…taken in the 33rd Round (986 overall) of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Colorado Rockies…finishes his career ninth in all-time appearances at Florida State, with 101, and eighth with 97 appearances out of the bullpen…over four seasons, had a 3.75 earned run average, 130 strikeouts and 51 walks over 124.2 innings pitched.

JUNIOR (2016):

Appeared in 28 games in relief…pitched 32.2 innings and struck out 32 batters…led the team with the lowest ERA (2.20) and the lowest opponent batting average (.159)…worked his longest outing out of the bullpen on March 6 against St. John’s when he pitched 3.2 innings and surrendered just one hit while striking out three…credited with a season-high four strikeouts in a game against Florida Gulf Coast on May 11 after 3.0 innings of work…played summer ball for the Cotuit Kettleers in the Cape Cod League where he ended the summer with a 1.62 ERA and 23 strikeouts over 16.2 innings.



Made 27 appearances including three starts during his sophomore campaign…finished with a 5-1 record and a 4.53 ERA…compiled 48 strikeouts in 43.2 innings while issuing just 15 walks…posted a 2.55 ERA in 24 relief appearances allowing just 10 earned runs in 35.1 innings of work…earned his first start of the season against UCF (March 10) and allowed three runs on six hits in 4.0 innings to pick-up the win in a controlled start…recorded his first win of the season with 4.1 innings of near-perfect pitching allowing one hit and striking out a career-high eight batters against UNC Wilmington (Feb. 27)…followed that performance with a career-high 5.2 shutout innings against USF (March 4) allowing just three runs while striking out six…recorded multiple strikeouts in 11 appearances…closed out the season recording at least one strikeout in seven straight relief appearances…gave up just one run in his last six relief appearances – a span covering 6.2 innings…played summer ball with the Kalamazoo Growlers of the Northwoods League.


FRESHMAN (2014):

Made his Seminole debut against Niagara (Feb. 16) in the season-opening series…allowed a walk and a hit as Florida State notched a 13-0 victory…made his only start of the season in a mid-week game against UCF (May 13), allowing four runs on four hits over 2.1 innings pitched…picked up his only win of the season versus Minnesota (May 3), throwing just four pitches and recording an out in the ninth as the Noles answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning for the 5-4 victory…pitched a career-high 4.0 innings against Duke (May 17), allowing an earned run on two hits and striking out three…struck out a career-high four batters at USF (March 4)…on the season, finished with a 1-1 record and 4.20 ERA in 15.0 innings…ended the year with a 13/8 strikeout/walk ratio.



A standout at St. Thomas Aquinas High School where he lettered on the varsity baseball team all four years…garnered 2013 Louisville Slugger First Team All-America and Florida Athletic Coaches Association First Team All-State honors…named the Sun-Sentinel Player of the Year and the Miami Herald Pitcher of the Year in 2013…hit .372, with 26 RBI and two home runs and went 8-2 with a 1.32 ERA and 104 strikeouts in 63.2 innings of work following his senior year…a member of the Principal’s List all four years of high school.



Son of Michael and Ana Byrd…has one sister, Angelica…majoring in editing, writing and media…born on March 31, 1995.
